The “Penumbra Sign” on Magnetic Resonance Images of Brodie’s Abscess: A Case Report

This report presents the "penumbra sign" of a Brodie's abscess in a 69-year-old male patient. The lesion was located in the proximal metaphysis of the left tibia. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of subacute osteomyelitis. The penumbra sign on magnetic resonance (MR) images is a helpful sign for the diagnosis of Brodie's abscess.

Cullen's sign in amoebic liver abscess.

A 45 year old woman presented with pain in her right upper abdomen and fever. Ultrasound of her abdomen showed a large liver abscess with subhepatic collection. She had Cullen's sign. The liver abscess was managed by percutaneous catheter drainage.

Kehr’s sign was originally described by the German surgeon Hans Kehr (1862-1916). It is a classical example of referred pain: irritation of the diaphragm is signaled by the phrenic nerve as pain in the area above the clavicle. We present a case of a 21-year-old woman admitted to the emergency department with the chief complaint of left shoulder pain related to splenic abscess.
